The Captain Underpants series, despite (or perhaps because of) its underpants theme, is unquestionably appealing to elementary school age boys. The humor is full of the obvious sorts of gags that entertain 9-year old boys, yet clever enough to entertain the adults reading with them. Connor loved “Wedgie Woman” — it’s one of the few books for which, when our obligatory nightly 30 minutes of reading has ended, he says “Oh, I think I’ll just keep on reading.” Absolutely recommended for the boys in your life, particularly if you are finding it hard otherwise to instill in them a love of reading.
